The 8-week online Clinical Assistant course (50-hour program) will teach foundational knowledge and basic science in medical terminology, basic pharmacology and nutrition, anatomy & physiology, clinical patient care in electrocardiography, phlebotomy, parenteral administration, point of care testing, assessment & management skills of the patient, and administrative tasks as it applies to a Clinical Medical Assistant.
Classes will be held live and remotely through a learning management platform, weekly on Thursday evenings. Students must have access to a computer, internet, webcam, and a recording device (i.e. cell phone, camera).
Students will receive by mail, a skill supply kit to demonstrate proficiency in clinical skills. Lab skills will be performed through video demonstrations and critical thinking videos. Students will provide live or video recordings of return demonstrations of lab skills.
All online students will be eligible to sit for the national certification exam in Clinical Medical Assisting (CCMA) upon successful completion of the course. Students who are enrolled in the online Clinical Assistant program will take the national CCMA certification exam at a location near them or through Live Remote Proctoring (LRP).
**This class is for the student who is outside of the Florida Panhandle area.
