Show your commitment to professional development, patient care and quality work by earning your NCCA-accredited certification through NHA. Passing a nationally accredited exam means a student is more likely to be work-ready. Employers value the standardization national certification provides and use it to screen job applicants. Employers are also more likely to increase pay when an employee earns a professional certification. According to the 2023 Industry Outlook 81% of employers require certification for medical assistants and the salary range for a certified medical assistant is $14.30 – 17.88 an hour.
- Your certification must be renewed every two years.
- To stay current, you must complete 10 continuing education credits and pay a recertification fee every two years.
You must be a current HSC student, have a high school diploma, and no more than 60 days from successful completion of the program. HSC’s CCMA exam pass rate is 96% in-person course and 93% online course. The national average is 78%.
The CCMA exam is held at HSC in-person, it is not remote. You must bring a current government-issued ID or passport to testing. We can not accept a photocopy, digital ID, or picture. Results are available immediately after your test for the online exam.

TESTING ACCOMMODATIONS – To be considered for special accommodations, you must complete the
NHA Request for Accommodations Form. NHA makes every attempt to review your request as soon as possible, however, they recommend that you allow 30 days for review of your request. Accommodation requests are reviewed in the order received.
